How do I find a facility to meet my needs?
-
Search for a facility by either geographical area, and/or specific services or amenities of
interest to you.
-
Check to see if there are any “recognized fitness facilities” in your area.
-
If there are any facilities registered in your search area, those facilities will be
highlighted at the top of the page and will be will have a “recognition” designation
-
Take our “facility checklist”
with you when you visit a facility, and see for yourself how it measures up.
What does a “Recognized Fitness Facility” mean to me?
-
It means the facility is in compliance with all the Canadian Fitness Safety Standards that
apply to that facility.
-
The Standards relate to such safety issues as:
- All fitness personnel are trained and fully qualified for your safety.
- There is an emergency action plan.
- Training has been provided for the prevention and control of communicable diseases.
- All safety standards for a well-maintained facility have been met.
- Pre-activity screening procedures are provided.
- Special precautions are recommended for individuals with special needs.
-
Health and safety issues should be a concern when you are joining or are currently a member
of a facility.
